Join other Friends as we maintain and improve some of our favorite trails in Panthertown Valley.
Panthertown Valley, a 6,300 acre back-country wilderness area and natural wonder, is part of the Nantahala National Forest. With volunteers, Friends of Panthertown maintain and improve the official USDA Forest Service-designated trail system. With a meager allotment of monetary and human resources from the US Forest Service, added to the destructive winter in the valley, there is still much to do. We will be repairing the bridge over Panthertown Creek, and maintaining the trails in the valley.
Working with other volunteers to maintain and clear trails is fun and a great way to meet other Friends of Panthertown!
We’ll meet at the Salt Rock parking area on Saturday, August 28th at 9:30am. As always, tools will be provided and no experience is necessary. Over the day we typically hike less than 6 miles and we expect to be finished before 3pm. We would love to have your help, won’t you join us?

Thank you to everyone who came out and helped maintain the Blackrock and Overlook Trails in Panthertown this past weekend. The Friends of Panthertown Valley relies on volunteers to do what we do. It was certainly great to meet and have some new volunteers on the trails with us!
With the help of dedicated volunteers, Friends of Panthertown added several new water-bars on the Blackrock and Overlook Trails in Panthertown Valley, and cleaned and cleared all the older ones.
