The mission of Friends of Panthertown is to work in partnership with the U.S. Forest Service to conserve this outstanding natural resource while improving the quality and experience of recreational opportunities in Panthertown.

Our volunteers maintain 30 miles of public trails in this treasured backcountry recreation area located on Nantahala National Forest in Western North Carolina.

You can become a Friend by donating in support of our conservation and stewardship work in Panthertown Valley.

We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. All donations are tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowable by law.

Part time, 20 hrs. week, six month contract, $15 hr., work from home and in the forest!

Fall in Panthertown Valley, where witch hazel flowers, wintergreen puts out berries, and where Stew Crew volunteers walk the trails, assessing and maintaining the routes that take us to our most beloved places. We laugh and learn from one another while giving to the land and helping sweeten the experience for future forest visitors ✨🌳🥾⚒️

It’s always breathtaking from Tranquility Point, and especially in the Fall!

When you see it at the trailhead parking lot or on the back of someone’s pack, the Unity Blaze is symbol of inclusion and a message of treating everyone, everywhere, equally. 🔥 🪵

Worked on wayfinding up atop Little Green! It’s starting to looks like fall at higher elevations.

It’s Hot Spot Activation Week!!🔥Friends of Panthertown and community partners welcome the Leave No Trace Center for Outdoor Ethics!

In response to recent heavy rainfall resulting from Tropical Storm Fred, many parts of Panthertown Valley have been impacted. In the interest of resource protection, visitors are encouraged to use caution on trails around waterfalls as water levels are higher than usual and soil conditions are soggy and can be unstable. Creek crossings may be impassable and mud on your boots is a guarantee. A full trails assessment is in the works. Please use caution!

@panthertownvalley is one of just 10 locations receiving critical support from the Leave No Trace Center for Outdoor Ethics through its Hot Spots program in 2021.
