The mission of Friends of Panthertown is to work in partnership with the U.S. Forest Service to conserve Panthertown as a backcountry natural resource and to enable sustainable recreation.

Our staff and volunteers maintain 30 miles of public trails in this treasured backcountry recreation area located on Nantahala National Forest in Western North Carolina.

You can become a Friend by volunteering or donating in support of our conservation and stewardship work in Panthertown.

We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. All donations are tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowable by law.

Now that’s a job well done! This weekend, our team of dedicated volunteers spent two days fixing the shelter on the Great Wall trail. We repaired the sunken floorboards and patched up all the holes in the roofing, creating a safe camp environment! Check out our website for upcoming workdays, link in bio!

Join us this Friday for a trail work day to celebrate Earth Day!! What better way is there to celebrate our planet than giving back! 🌿🐝🌱🌻⛅️🌎

Friends of Panthertown hosted the Watershed Association of the Tuckasegee River for a macroinvertebrate day! We learned the importance of macroinvertebrates, how to survey for them in streams, and more!

“Big changes are coming to the forests of western North Carolina this year. Real estate in the Panthertown Valley area of Nantahala National Forest is about to become a hot digital commodity.

💗🌳 Congratulations for over 100 hours of volunteer service on the Nantahala National Forest in Panthertown! Blue helmets were awarded for their ongoing dedication. We love our volunteers! Thank you Ross Fogleman and Danny Bottoms! 🙏

Our #StewCrew had an awesome day this past Saturday on the Black Rock trail! We did some maintenance on rolling grade dips and put in some steps to create a more sustainable trail!

Join us on Thursday, March 24th, from 4-7pm @whitesidebrewing for “Grub for Good”, 10% of all proceeds go to Friends of Panthertown! T-shirts and maps available for purchase. Any donations welcome. We hope to see you there! 🌼🌱🌲
